Spider-Man: Brand New Day Is 2nd Fastest to $2B, but Did It Beat Infinity War?

Spider-Man: Brand New Day just shattered a massive box office record, but there’s one milestone it still can’t touch. The Sony and Marvel Studios hit crossed $2 billion worldwide in just 17 days, yet two all-time giants still hold their ground.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day crosses $2 billion in record time

Sony and Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man: Brand New Day has crossed the $2 billion mark at the worldwide box office, as reported by Deadline and Box Office Mojo. The Destin Daniel Cretton-directed film achieved the milestone in just 17 days. This makes it the second-fastest film ever to reach that threshold.

The movie earned $70 million in its third domestic weekend, marking the second-best third weekend in box office history. That figure surpasses Spider-Man: No Way Home, which earned $56 million in its own third frame. Brand New Day’s domestic total now stands at $785.8 million after 17 days of release.

Globally, the film has accumulated $1.236 billion internationally alongside its domestic haul. The combined worldwide total currently sits at $2.021 billion. Brand New Day is now the fourth highest-grossing domestic release of all time.

The film trails only Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($936.6 million) and Avengers: Endgame ($858.3 million) domestically. It has also surpassed Avatar ($785.2 million) on the all-time domestic chart. However, its worldwide total still sits behind Avengers: Infinity War ($2.052 billion) and The Force Awakens ($2.071 billion).

Brand New Day is expected to overtake both films shortly, possibly within this current week. The movie continues to play at 4,539 theaters across North America. Its second week earned $205.7 million, surpassing Avengers: Endgame’s second week of $186.5 million but falling short of The Force Awakens’ $261.1 million. IMAX contributed $4.2 million during the third weekend alone, further boosting the film’s premium format performance.
