Amazon Prime Video’s new TV and movie releases for the week of August 17 to August 23, 2026, include Blue Beetle and others.

Blue Beetle is based on the character from DC Comics, Jaime Reyes/Blue Beetle. Directed by Ángel Manuel Soto, the film revolves around Reyes (played by Xolo Maridueña), who receives powers from an alien Scarab. Despite receiving mainly positive reviews, the film underperformed at the box office. However, it became the most-watched film on HBO Max in the US.

Also coming to Prime Video is the comedy film Good Fortune. Written and directed by Aziz Ansari, it focuses on an angel, Gabriel, who changes the lives of a struggling man and his rich employer. Things turn upside down when Gabriel ends up losing his wings, but his work as an angel continues to unravel. The film opened to mostly positive reviews but ultimately failed at the box office. The star cast includes Aziz Ansari, Seth Rogen, Keke Palmer, Sandra Oh, and Keanu Reeves, among others, in key roles.

Additionally, Is God Is arrives on the streaming platform. The dark comedy thriller is based on Aleshea Harris’s 2018 play, and she also directs the film. It chronicles the adventures of twin sisters who decide to seek revenge against their father for disfiguring them in a fire. The film received favorable reviews but underperformed at the box office. It featured Kara Young, Mallori Johnson, Vivica A. Fox, Sterling K. Brown, and many others in important roles.
