New Spider-Man concept art has given fans a glimpse of the canceled Sinister Six movie. Alongside, it also unveils Marvel’s Savage Land.
In a recent update on Instagram, concept art was shared by Victor Martinez. The picture was from the Sinister Six movie, which was scrapped by Sony. It portrays Spider-Man falling to an island, which might be the Savage Land location where the movie’s plot was supposed to take place. The picture also shows several missiles surrounding the plummeting web-crawler.
The caption of the post read, “Sharing with you some concept art I did for an unmade/untitled Spider-Man film from years ago. This would’ve been a fun one with lots of villains… 6 to be exact! Shout out to [Constantine Sekeris], who was working on the amazing costume design for Spidey – and to Production Designer [Martin Whist] who’s always fun to work with! Thanks for viewing.”
What do we know about the plot for the canceled Spider-Man Sinister Six movie?
Sony initially ideated a Sinister Six movie ahead of The Amazing Spider-Man 2’s release. According to information from the MCU: The Reign of Marvel Studios novel, Spider-Man was supposed to ride a T. rex in the Savage Land as part of the plot for the canceled movie. Sony Pictures even set up the movie in Andrew Garfield’s second outing in a post-credits scene.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2’s post-credits scene featured several weapons that belonged to the Spider-Man villains. With Rhino, Kraven the Hunter, and more teasing the setup of the Sinister Six, fans were eager for the movie to come to theaters.
Unfortunately, the entire plan got scrapped when Marvel Studios came in with a brand new Spider-Man franchise. Featuring Tom Holland as the titular lead, the web-slinger made his debut in the MCU in Captain America: Civil War. Since then, the character has made appearances in Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, and four standalone Spider-Man movies.
