Jason Statham’s action thriller Mechanic: Resurrection is now streaming for free on Fawesome, the ad-supported streaming service, according to ScreenRant. The 2016 sequel to the 2011 remake follows the actor reprising his role as a skilled hitman drawn back into a dangerous world.
The film follows former assassin Arthur Bishop, who has left his deadly profession behind and lives under a new identity in Brazil. An old enemy cuts his peaceful retirement short by kidnapping the woman he loves and forcing him to complete three dangerous assassinations involving an imprisoned African warlord, a human trafficker, and an arms dealer. Beyond eliminating the targets, Bishop must disguise every death as an accident.
As the operation unfolds, he returns to the life he tried to escape while searching for a way to outsmart these people. The action thriller stars Statham as Arthur Bishop alongside Jessica Alba as Gina Thornton. Other cast members include Tommy Lee Jones as Max Adams, Michelle Yeoh as Mei, Sam Hazeldine as Riah Crain, and John Cenatiempo as Jeremy Cocs, among others.
The film proved to be a commercial success despite its mixed reception. According to Box Office Mojo, Mechanic: Resurrection grossed $125.7 million worldwide against a reported production budget of $40 million. This includes more than $21 million from domestic theaters and over $104 million internationally.
Although the film performed well at the box office, critics were less impressed. On Rotten Tomatoes, it holds a 29 percent critics’ score based on 56 reviews. Meanwhile, audiences have given it a 40 percent rating.
