Avengers: Doomsday may not make fans wait until December 18 after all. Several key international markets are reportedly set to screen the film days before its U.S. debut.
Avengers: Doomsday could release two days earlier in Brazil and more countries
According to The Beyond Reporter on X, Avengers: Doomsday premieres on December 16 in Brazil. That date falls two days before the film’s U.S. release on December 18, 2026. IMDb’s release info page also lists Italy and Norway for a December 16, 2026 debut.
Disney delayed Doomsday from its earlier May 2026 slot to December 18, 2026, in May 2025. The studio made the shift to allow more time for production to be completed. Avengers: Secret Wars also moved to December 17, 2027, under the same announcement.
Early international openings are common practice for major Hollywood tentpoles. Marvel Studios has frequently released its films in select international markets before the domestic debut. Brazil, in particular, has historically received Marvel premieres ahead of the United States.
Doomsday marks the return of Anthony and Joe Russo as directors alongside Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom. The film features an ensemble cast including Pedro Pascal, Anthony Mackie, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Vanessa Kirby, Simu Liu, and Tom Hiddleston. Actors from Fox’s X-Men film series, including Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, James Marsden, and Alan Cumming, also return.
Filming for Doomsday took place from April to September 2025 at Pinewood Studios in England. Anthony Mackie previously teased that the film would have a cliffhanger ending. He told Collider in April 2025 that “everyone is expendable.” Kevin Feige has called the companion film Secret Wars “as ambitious a project as we’ve ever embarked on.” Additional photography for Doomsday is expected to take place in early 2026.
Both films form part of Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
