Nicolas Cage addressed the possibility of Spider-Noir Season 2 happening. The inaugural installment recently premiered in its entirety on MGM+ and Amazon Prime Video. It follows Ben Reilly a.k.a. The Spider, who handles a complex case while coming to grips with his tragic past.
Nicolas Cage doesn’t know if Spider-Noir Season 2 will happen
Cage is uncertain about the possibility of Spider-Noir‘s sophomore outing, saying it remains to be seen. Interacting with Variety about the Season 1 finale, he said, “I do not know. But I would say that whether it happens or not, all of us achieved what we set out to do, and it works on its own. We’ll see what happens.”
However, executive producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are interested in making more installments. The latter told The Hollywood Reporter last month that he is “happy to do more,” while the former shared, “We are television producers. We’re not gonna say no.”
Meanwhile, showrunner Oren Uziel shared in an interview that the show was designed to have multiple seasons with new stories. He explained, “One of the magical things about any private detective story is, if you want another story, all it takes is another client to knock on that door, and then comes a new set of cases, a new set of problems, and a new adventure to go one. So [it’s] conceived to be as many seasons as we want to go.”
Its unclear what the story for the unconfirmed Season 2 will be. However, Uziel said he hoped to include a character scrapped from Season 1 during its development. He also gave a rough idea of their powers.
“There’s a character … shoot, I’m hoping I’m going to remember his name, called Sticks, I believe, who, when he touches you, you die,” he shared. “And I love that idea, and I loved it for ‘Noir,’ and maybe I’ll use it in Season 2 if we do one.”
All episodes of Season 1 are currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
