Recent reports claimed Disney+ has canceled Wonder Man Season 2. The surprise move left many Marvel fans online shocked. The series was already renewed earlier this year. Disney+ has not yet explained the sudden decision.
Josh Gad played a fictional version of himself in the series. His character became trapped inside the Doorman during Season 1. That happened in the show’s fourth black-and-white episode. The series never revealed what happened to Gad afterward.
Now, fans are worried his story may never continue. Many shared their reactions on X, formerly called Twitter. Erik Voss from the New Rockstars YouTube channel wrote, “This is terrible news. And on top of everything else, it means that Josh Gad will never be found in the MCU.”
Another fan wrote, “Also I guess Josh Gad will forever remain missing in the MCU. Would’ve loved a follow up/resolution to that but oh well.” Another simply posted, “Josh Gad is forever lost.”
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II played the lead role of Simon Williams in the series. His character kept his superpowers secret from others. Despite the cancellation, the actor remained very positive online. He shared a message on Instagram this week, writing, “I’m glad we got to be a part of something cool.”
He also joked about his Emmy nomination, adding, “See you at the EMMYS.” Wonder Man received strong reviews from many critics overall. The series earned an impressive 91% on Rotten Tomatoes. It also received an Emmy nomination this year.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II was expected to return as Simon Williams in Season 2. While that now seems unlikely, fans are still hoping the character could appear in future Marvel projects.
