A new rumor may have just expanded the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s nostalgia play beyond what fans initially expected from the Multiverse Saga’s final chapter. A familiar set of mutant actors could reportedly be suiting up again for one more round in the MCU.

X-Men: First Class actors rumored to join MCU as well
Industry insider MyTimeToShineHello posted on X that “some of the First Class actors will return for Secret Wars,” sparking fresh speculation about the younger Fox X-Men cast joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The post does not name specific actors from the First Class timeline. However, the claim raises the possibility that James McAvoy’s Professor X and Michael Fassbender’s Magneto could appear alongside the original timeline actors already confirmed for the MCU’s Avengers films.
Meanwhile, Marvel Studios has not confirmed any First Class actors for Avengers: Secret Wars at this stage. The studio currently has several actors from Fox’s original X-Men timeline attached to Avengers: Doomsday, including Ian McKellen as Magneto, Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier, and James Marsden as Cyclops. As of now, no star from Fox’s younger X-Men timeline has received an official announcement for either upcoming Avengers film.
The rumor aligns with a broader cast report from MyTimeToShineHello that listed dozens of names for Secret Wars. That report blended confirmed casting with unverified claims, including Sydney Sweeney as the One Above All and Dwayne Johnson in an undisclosed capacity. Marvel Studios has not acknowledged any of those specific casting claims.
Fassbender last portrayed Magneto in 2019’s Dark Phoenix before Marvel Studios regained control of the X-Men franchise. He remains a strong candidate for a future MCU role given his age and popularity in the part. Meanwhile, McAvoy similarly built a dedicated fanbase across four films as the younger Charles Xavier.
As it stands, Avengers: Secret Wars currently holds a December 17, 2027 release date and serves as the conclusion to the Multiverse Saga. The film follows Avengers: Doomsday, which arrives on December 18, 2026. Together, both projects continue expanding the MCU’s multiverse storytelling with returning legacy characters.
