Spider-Man: Brand New Day Plot Update Reveals New Hulk & Jean Grey Details

A new Spider-Man: Brand New Day rumor reveals new details about Jean Grey and Hulk‘s connection in the Marvel Cinematic Universe movie.

Spider-Man will have to fight the Hulk with The Punisher in Brand New Day

According to scooper MyTimeToShineHello, “Jean Grey will take control of the Hulk and turn him into Grey Hulk and make him fight Spider-Man and Punisher.”

The first trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day showed Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner wearing the Hulk Inhibitor Device, which allows Banner to go from his Smart Hulk form back to his human form. Based on the rumor, it seems that Jean Grey will revert hulk to the rage-fueled giant fans saw before Avengers: Infinity War, allowing her to take control of his mind.

It’s interesting to see Spider-Man and the Punisher mentioned as teaming up to stop the Hulk (who is being controlled by Jean), since past reports have suggested that the Punisher will be trying to protect Jean from Damage Control (and possibly Tombstone). For the Punisher to go from protecting Jean to fighting the Hulk hints that there may be a falling out between the two at some point in Brand New Day.

In Spider-Man: Brand New Day, “four years have passed since the events of No Way Home, and Peter is now an adult living entirely alone, having voluntarily erased himself from the lives and memories of those he loves,” the official synopsis reads.

“Crime-fighting in a New York that no longer knows his name, he’s devoted himself entirely to protecting his city — a full-time Spider-Man — but as the demands on him intensify, the pressure sparks a surprising physical evolution that threatens his existence, even as a strange new pattern of crimes gives rise to one of the most powerful threats he has ever faced,” concludes the synopsis.

Tom Holland reprises his role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man for Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando, and Mark Ruffalo round out the ensemble cast.

Destin Daniel Cretton directed Spider-Man: Brand New Day from a script written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. The Sony/Marvel movie is slated to hit theaters on July 31, 2026, as part of Phase 6 of the MCU.
