Spider-Man will have his hands full when the fan-favorite webslinger makes his grand Marvel Cinematic Universe return in this summer’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
The superhero movie is shaping up to feature both minor and major antagonists. Michael Mando’s Mac Gargan/Scorpion and Marvin Jones III’s Lonnie Lincoln/Tombstone are expected to be the bigger threats in Brand New Day, while Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner/Hulk will reportedly serve as a “secondary antagonist” after being manipulated by Jean Grey.
Which Spider-Man villain will make his live-action MCU debut in Brand New Day?
Last month, a supposed Spider-Man: Brand New Day cast list leaked online, claiming that Rhino, 8-Ball, Chameleon, and the Jackal would also appear as villains in the movie. Now, trusted scooper Cryptic HD QUALITY has revealed on X that at least one of those rumored villains will make their MCU debut in the Spidey sequel.
Responding to a follower, who asked about Chamelon and Jackal’s inclusion in Brand New Day, Cryptic HD QUALITY wrote, “Chamelon i’m not so sure about. Jackal was one I heard.”
Jackal is the supervillain alter ego of Empire State University professor Miles Warren, who was created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko in 1965. A decade later, Gerry Conway and Ross Andru revealed Warren to be the identity of the Jackal, whom they had introduced a year earlier in The Amazing Spider-Man #129.
While not as popular or well-known among fans as the Green Goblin or Doctor Octopus, the Jackal is notable for being one of the first in the Marvel Universe to master cloning technology. He played a major role in the controversial, yet popular Spider-Man storyline, the “Clone Saga,” which ran from 1994 to 1996.
If the Jackal does appear in Brand New Day, his inclusion could tease a future adaptation of the Clone Saga in the MCU. However, there have been reports claiming that the new Spider-Man movie will open with a fast-paced montage featuring Spidey battling several minor villains like Boomerang and Tarantula. The montage is likely where Jackal will appear in the movie.
As always, since this is an unconfirmed scoop, fans should take it with a grain of salt. All will eventually be revealed when Spider-Man: Brand New Day opens in theaters on July 31, 2026, as part of Phase 6 of the MCU.
