‘I’m Not Coming’: How Chris Hemsworth’s Daughter Agreed for Avengers: Doomsday

Chris Hemsworth opened up about the behind-the-scenes negotiations it took to convince his daughter, India Rose Hemsworth, to return for Avengers: Doomsday. The actor revealed that a mix of teenage attitude, resistance to filming, and a carefully offered bribe that possibly included a new motorbike were key to getting her back on set to reprise her role as Love.

How Chris Hemsworth convinced daughter to return for Avengers: Doomsday

Chris Hemsworth said it took negotiation and a possible bribe to convince his daughter India to return for Avengers: Doomsday. On The View, he explained, “She’s now 13… she walks on set and she’s like, ‘Ugh, how long is this gonna take?’” After their first take, India asked, “‘Are we done?’” prompting Chris to tell her they had “another two or three days” left.

India displayed what Hemsworth described as “just this angsty, sort of teenage attitude,” often retreating to her tent or sitting in a chair. “And in the end, I had to bribe her to come onto set,” he said. She initially resisted, saying, “‘I’m not coming! I’m not even getting paid!’” Hemsworth corrected her: “‘You are getting paid.’ She goes, ‘Really? You didn’t tell me that.’”

Chris revealed that India wanted immediate access to her earnings. “She goes, ‘Nah! Nah, I want some of it now,’” he said, recalling how co-director Joe Russo and others pushed to get her back on set. She was also eager to leave for a Billie Eilish concert. “‘She’s like, ‘When’s it?’ I’m like, ‘It doesn’t start yet! We’re not gonna miss it! Just get on set!’”

Mentioning motorbikes shifted her attitude. “She races motorbikes and rides motorbikes and she goes, ‘…Could I afford that motorbike that I wanted?’” Hemsworth replied, “‘You possibly could.’ So a slight negotiation and off she went.”

India reprises her role as Love, following her appearance in Thor: Love and Thunder (2022). Chris clarified she wasn’t throwing “a tantrum by any means,” but acknowledged with View cohost Sara Haines that India may already be a “difficult actor.” Avengers: Doomsday releases December 18 and features Chris Evans, Vanessa Kirby, Pedro Pascal, and others.
