Marvel Studios is expanding its Disney+ lineup, and this time, a beloved Disney icon is stepping into the MCU. The actor behind the voice of Olaf in Frozen is said to be joining the cast of Wonder Man, the studio’s upcoming live-action series.
Josh Gad to join Marvel’s Wonder Man cast
The Winter 2025 issue of Disney’s D23 Magazine confirms that Gad will make his MCU debut in Wonder Man, as per The Direct. The series stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams, an aspiring actor navigating Hollywood while being drawn into the world of superheroes.
According to the magazine, Gad will reportedly appear as himself or more specifically, “an extremely famous version of himself.” The publication also notes that the role will include musical moments, stating, “Playing an extremely famous version of himself, Gad will showcase his singing abilities.” His character is expected to contribute to the series’ comedic tone, with the D23 feature teasing that his involvement will result in “amusing scenes.”
Wonder Man is positioned as a satirical, tongue-in-cheek comedy that pokes fun at the entertainment industry and superhero culture. Gad’s exaggerated self-portrayal reportedly aligns with the show’s direction and makes it his first on-screen appearance within the MCU. The show will run for eight episodes and has drawn attention for its reported runtime, though specific details on episode lengths have not been disclosed.
Moreover, Gad’s role as a heightened version of himself suggests that Wonder Man may feature additional Hollywood personalities in similar roles. No other names have been announced, but given the show’s satirical style, the possibility of further celebrity cameos remains open. Gad is widely recognized for voicing Olaf in Frozen and Frozen II, and the report notes that other Disney-associated actors could appear under similar circumstances.
While the extent of Gad’s screen time is unclear, the D23 feature indicates that his appearance could be more than a brief cameo. Wonder Man premieres January 27, 2026, exclusively on Disney+.
