Bryce Dallas Howard on How Being ‘Rescued by Spider-Man’ Injured Her

Bryce Dallas Howard recently revisited her injury from doing a stunt in Spider-Man 3. Howard also revealed that she sometimes still feels the effects of those stunts, and that a doctor notably asked if she’d been “dragged by a truck.”

Bryce Dallas Howard says her Spider-Man 3 injury was compared to getting ‘dragged by a truck’

Bryce Dallas Howard attended the LA Comic Con on September 27, where she recalled her experience filming Spider-Man 3. The now 44-year-old actress played Gwen Stacy in the third installment of the Sam Raimi franchise.

Howard expressed that she was very impressed with the Spider-Man production team’s determination to entertain their audience. She said, “I remember being a part of Spider-Man 3 and thinking to myself, ‘Wow, it’s so cool how the crew and the actors have become almost like a company, like a band, like a little circus, where they know what their show is and they come together and each time they want to dazzle the audiences more.’”

Later, while talking about the few stunts that she had performed, Howard explained her thought process. “As an actor, you want to be able to do as much as you can,” she explained. “But you work very closely with the stunt choreographers, coordinators, and performers to be able to perform, and then they know the point at which they need to take over.”

The Jurassic World actress added, “I got a lot of great training, and I was very enthusiastic. I still feel some of those stunts from time to time of getting caught by Spider-Man.” She grabbed her left shoulder and said, “Yeah, it can sort of pull your arm out a little bit.”

After the panel, Howard shared more details with People on the aftermath of her stunts. “I remember I went to my osteopath afterwards, and he was like, ‘Were you dragged by a truck?’ I was like, ‘No. I was rescued by Spider-Man, of course.’”
