Mackie recently made an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to discuss a variety of subjects. Fallon brought up a rumor claiming that Sam Wilson will have the most screen time in Avengers: Doomsday among the star-studded cast of the movie. Notably, The Cosmic Circus initially published these claims, but Fallon showed Mackie what appears to be MovieWeb‘s report on them.

“The internet’s true, too. Everything on the internet is true,” Mackie jokingly responded, adding, “Man, they’re good. Whoever work at the internet they are good, boy. D—!” He then seemed to speak about the ending of Captain America: Brave New World, in which he interacts with Tim Blake Nelson’s Samuel Sterns, who warns him of an impending attack from other worlds.

The pair also discussed whether Mackie’s life has changed since he became Captain America. The actor humorously claimed in response that he now gets free appetizers “everywhere” he goes.

Avengers: Doomsday is one of the highly anticipated movies of next year. It has a massive cast, including one confirmed member of the original MCU Avengers, as Chris Hemsworth is returning as Thor in the movie. However, Sam is Captain America now, and as various rumors suggest, will likely lead the superhero collective in Doomsday.

Anthony Russo and Joe Russo are directing Doomsday, the fifth Avengers feature. It premieres in U.S. theaters on December 18, 2026.
