A new rumor suggests that Hunter Schafer might not be cast in the Legend of Zelda live action movie. Since Nintendo announced that they are developing a movie based on the popular video game, fans have been rooting for the Euphoria actress to play Princess Zelda. However, details regarding the cast of the live action have not been disclosed yet.
Why Hunter Schafer may not be cast as Zelda in live action movie
According to industry insider Daniel Richtman, the chances of Hunter Schafer getting cast as Princess Zelda are low.
The scooper wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “For the live-action Legend of Zelda movie, casting is underway for the two leads (Zelda and Link).” Richtman added that the studio is reportedly eyeing actors between the ages “16 and 23” (via Dexerto).
So with Schafer being 26 years old, she might not be considered for Zelda’s role in the live action. However, the rumor has not been confirmed yet by the makers.
Earlier, Richtman claimed that Schafer was one of the top contenders to take up the role. Since then, fans have expressed their wish to see the actress play Zelda on the big screen. In addition, scooper @MyTimeToShineHello said, Schafer is “being eyed for a big Marvel role.”
The Legend of Zelda live action movie was greenlit by Nintendo in November 2023. In a press release, the video game mogul stated, “The film will be produced by Shigeru Miyamoto, Representative Director and Fellow of Nintendo and Avi Arad, Chairman of Arad Productions Inc.. The film will be directed by Wes Ball.”
The movie was originally scheduled to come out on March 26, 2027. However, in a recent update, Miyamoto announced that the live action’s release has been delayed. On X (formerly Twitter), he wrote, “We are changing the release date of the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda to May 7, 2027.”
