Hunter Schafer Isn’t Playing Zelda But Rumored for Big MCU Role

Hunter Schafer has been fan-cast as Zelda in the planned Legend of Zelda movie for some time now. A new report notes that Schafer won’t get the role, but could end up in another big movie universe.

What is Hunter Schafer’s rumored role in the MCU?

According to a new report from noted insider and “scooper” My Time to Shine, Schafer is not going to end up playing Princess Zelda in the Legend of Zelda movie. However, the insider said Schafer is being “eyed for a big Marvel role.” That role remains unknown as of now, but it isn’t the first time Schafer’s name has been brought up in potential MCU rumors.

Previously, Schafer has been tied to the X-Men character Mystique, with rumors last year claiming that Marvel was looking to her for the role in a planned X-Men reboot. Schafer even commented on the rumors in February, joking that she and her father had talked about the rumors and that she’d love to do it if given the chance.

“I did see [the fan casts]! My dad texted me about that, yeah. Yeah, that would be cool. These fan casts come around every once in a while and it’s always very sweet and always for characters that I really like.”

Schafer rose to superstardom for her role in HBO’s Euphoria, and has since become a mainstay in Hollywood. She recently starred in 2023’s The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, and 2024’s Cuckoo and Kinds of Kindness. She’ll next appear in the third season of Euphoria, as well as the 2025 film Mother Mary.
