Two years after her last Marvel appearance, Karen Gillan has addressed the possibility of Nebula‘s return to the MCU in the near future. The actress, who recently partnered up with fellow MCU stars Tom Hiddleston and Chiwetel Ejiofor for The Life of Chuck, has noted that fans should keep a close eye on how things are developing in the superhero franchise with respect to her character’s potential return.
Karen Gillan responds to Nebula’s return possibility in MCU
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Gillan was asked about reprising her role as Nebula for an upcoming Marvel project. While she did not give any specific details about her return, her reply suggested that her character may return in the MCU sometime in the future.
THR asked, “It’s become pretty clear that nothing is off limits in terms of rejoining or coming back. Do you see that in the future for you?” Gillan then answered simply, “I can’t say, but watch this space.”
This response was similar to the answer she gave in an earlier interview after being asked about her potential return to the MCU. “It’s so much fun working in the Marvel world… in terms of the future, can’t say anything. You know how it goes, but maybe… never say, never,” the actress remarked.
In her most recent Marvel appearance in 2023’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Karen Gillan’s Nebula and Dave Bautista’s Drax decided to extend their stay on Knowhere to look after the children they and their fellow Guardians had rescued from the High Evolutionary. Since then, there has been no word on the whereabouts of the character in the MCU. While Gillan’s recent statements suggest that Nebula’s return remains possible, Marvel Studios has yet to give any updates on when and where the character could appear next.
