Just a few days after the theatrical release of Marvel’s Thunderbolts*, an online trend showing support for Olga Kurylenko’s Taskmaster has started to take shape, with fans demanding to see more of the troubled mercenary. In accordance, the phrase “Justice For Taskmaster” has started to gain more and more traction on different social media platforms, especially X (formerly Twitter).
Fans ask for more Taskmaster in Thunderbolts*’ new #JusticeForTaskmaster trend
While Thunderbolts* marked the first appearance of Antonia Dreykov, a.k.a. Taskmaster, in the MCU since 2021’s Black Widow, it also appears to show the ned of the character in the franchise.
Fans who have seen Thunderbolts* know that Taskmaster meets her end relatively early in the film. With Olga Kurylenko also not being mentioned in the cast reveal for Avengers: Doomsday, while other cast members from the film were, Marvel Studios seems to have sealed the character’s fate in the MCU by killing her off in its latest big-screen outing.
As such, fans on the internet have rallied to give birth to the “Justice For Taskmaster” trend on X (formerly Twitter). Many have even created dedicated accounts for the fallen Thunderbolts* character, seemingly in a bid to convince Marvel to rethink their plans about Taskmaster. Moreover, one user urged Marvel to “introduce a version of Antonia Dreykov into the comics with the same origin,” in order to see more of the character.
The #JusticeForTaskmaster trend comes after a rumor regarding Taskmaster’s deleted story in Thunderbolts* surfaced a few days ago. The theory claimed that Olga Kurylenko was supposed to play a much bigger part in a previous version of the film, before final edits curtailed the Quantum of Solace star’s role. At the time of writing, Marvel has yet to share any official word on the future of Kurylenko’s version of Taskmaster.
