Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday livestream event garnered 275 million digital views across platforms, setting a new record for the studio’s most-watched livestream (via Deadline). The five-hour, 27-minute event also generated 3.1 million social media mentions and more than 55 unique trending terms on X (formerly Twitter), with #AvengersDoomsday holding the top trending spot for over seven hours.
The livestream began at 8 a.m. PST and steadily grew in audience size hour by hour. The stream’s digital performance surpassed the social volume of Marvel’s previous record-holder, the Deadpool & Wolverine Super Bowl trailer. On YouTube, the official stream ranked #2 on trending by the end of the day.
Marvel revealed 27 cast members by unveiling a series of director’s chairs labeled with actor names. The studio confirmed Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Anthony Mackie (Captain America), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Letitia Wright (Black Panther), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Simu Liu (Shang-Chi), Sebastian Stan (Bucky), and Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova). It also added X-Men actors Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), Rebecca Romijn (Mystique), and Kelsey Grammer (Beast).
The event introduced new cast members from The Fantastic Four: First Steps. These included Pedro Pascal (Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby (Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn (Human Torch), and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Thing). Robert Downey Jr. closed the reveal as Doctor Doom, stepping into frame and signaling “shhh” to the camera.
Following the stream, Downey posted: “That’s what you call a deep bench of talent… actually, it’s more like a row, but an extra long one… that must be it… right?” Marvel responded: “There’s always room for more,” indicating additional cast reveals are still to come.
