Disney+ Star Wars Series, The Mandalorian, Has Wrapped Season 1
Production on the series began in October before any cast members were announced. Pedro Pascal is headlining The Mandalorian as the titular bounty hunter, who roams the outer reaches of the galaxy sometime after the Galactic Empire’s fall. Favreau took to Instagram several times over the last few months to tease what fans can expect from the series. Among other details, he revealed that familiar droids like R5-D4 and IG-88 will appear during the show’s first season. Favreau also shared photos of Elon Musk and Star Wars creator George Lucas visiting the show’s set.
Favreau is guiding The Mandalorian as a writer and executive producer. Dave Filoni (Star Wars: The Clone Wars) is directing the series’ pilot episode. Other directors lined up for the first round of episodes include Deborah Chow, Rick Famuyiwa, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Taika Waititi. Ludwig Göransson, who just won an Oscar for scoring Black Panther, will compose the series’ music.
Joining Pascal on the show are Gina Carano, Nick Nolte, Giancarlo Esposito, Emily Swallow, Carl Weathers, Omid Abtahi, and Werner Herzog. None of the other characters have been revealed. But as Favreau and company advance through the post-production stage, we can anticipate new announcements to be made in the coming months. Disney+ is also developing another series featuring Diego Luna reprising his role as Cassian Andor from Rogue One.
