New Rogue One Photos and How Long Until the Episode VIII Title

Empire magazine (via Making Star Wars) has debuted new Rogue One: A Star Wars Story photos, which you can view in the gallery below.

Rogue One, directed by Gareth Edwards and opening on December 16, tells the story of resistance fighters who have united to steal plans to the dreaded Death Star. Felicity Jones leads the cast as Jyn Erso alongside Mads Mikklesen who plays her father, Galen Erso. Diego Luna (Milk) stars as Captain Cassian Andor with Donnie Yen (Ip Man, Blade II) as the blind spiritual warrior Chirrut Imwe, Jiang Wen (Let the Bullets Fly, Devils on the Doorstep) as his heavily armored best friend Baze Malbus,, Alan Tudyk (Firefly) as the droid K-2SO, Riz Ahmed (Nightcrawler, Four Lions) as the Rebel pilot Bodhi Rook, plus Forest Whitaker (The Last King of Scotland) as Saw Gerrera, a character first introduced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and Ben Mendelsohn (BloodlineMississippi Grind) as the film’s main antagonist, Director Orson Krennic.

In related Star Wars news, Daisy Ridley recently talked to the My Dad Wrote a Porno podcast (via THR) and revealed that we might have to wait a long time for the Episode VIII title.

“I heard a title [for the movie], but I don’t know if it’s going to be that,” Ridley said. “I heard the title a long time ago before we started filming, and so I feel some things have slightly tweaked during production. It’s going to be a while before it’s released, I imagine.”

We would guess a teaser for Star Wars: Episode VIII will show in theaters with Rogue One in December, but will it have the title? Another guess would be that we’d have to wait until Star Wars Celebration in Orlando next April.

Star Wars: Episode VIII, which is written and directed by Rian Johnson and continues the storylines introduced in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, welcomes back cast members Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Lupita Nyong’o, Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, and Andy Serkis. New cast members will include Academy Award winner Benicio Del Toro, Academy Award nominee Laura Dern, and newcomer Kelly Marie Tran.

Produced by Kathleen Kennedy and Ram Bergman and executive produced by J.J. Abrams, Jason McGatlin, and Tom Karnowski, Star Wars: Episode VIII is scheduled for release on December 15, 2017.
