Netflix CCO Talks Marvel Shows, Teases Punisher in Defenders
Following the all-new trailers and teasers that debuted at San Diego Comic-Con, one would think Netflix wouldn’t have much else to say about their upcoming slate of Marvel originals, but speaking with IGN, Netflix CCO Ted Sarandos offered a few teases about their future.
Sarandos spoke about their upcoming slate, mentioning Marvel’s Luke Cage later this year would be followed by Marvel’s Iron Fist and Marvel’s The Defenders in 2017, and that the previously-ordered Seasons 2 and 3 of Marvel’s Jessica Jones and Marvel’s Daredevil would follow. When asked if we could see more than two shows a year, he said:
“I doubt that we could produce at the quality that produce at that speed. But we’re gonna try to make them quicker so we can get less downtime between them.”
Circlcing back to The Defenders, Sarandos teased: “The whole cast is called on for The Defenders, which changes the production schedule for the other shows.”
When pressed by the outlet if Jon Bernthal’s The Punisher (also set for his own spin-off series) would be joining Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist in the team-up series, he teased: “Uh… stay tuned.”
Marvel’s Luke Cage is the first of these to make its debut. The Mike Colter-starring series will be released in full on September 30
