Safe House Director Daniel Espinosa Up for Assassin’s Creed?

Espinosa made a splash in the film world with his 2010 debut Easy Money, which proved to be quite the success overseas. He then directed Safe House, starring Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds, which went on to gross over $200 million at the global box office. The director is currently finishing up his third film, Child 44, which will see release later this year.

With a release date set for August 7, 2015, Assassin’s Creed will need a director to board the project soon if production is expected to get started in the coming months. Michael Fassbender is set to star in the film and he’ll co-produce with Frank Marshall. Michael Lesslie has penned the screenplay.

The original game involves Desmond Miles, captured by a secret organization with ties to the Knight Templar who repeatedly send Miles back in time into the body of his assassin ancestors to retrieve valuable historical artifacts, the first time going back to the Crusades.
