The next entry in the “Arkham” game is taking an unexpected cue from another film for its music: Die Hard. Speaking with Game Informer, Eric Holmes, the creative director for Batman: Arkham Origins, says the Christmas setting for the game will be taken into account for the music, specifically the use of sleigh bells.
“One of our inspirations for that is Die Hard, which I think is one of the greatest movies ever made, but it’s also a Christmas movie, right? One thing they use in there is whenever McClane has an idea you hear the Christmas bells. So the moment for example when he has the two bullets left for his pistol and he knows Hans has his wife… then you see the Chirstmas tape and the camera punches in. You hear the same thing just before he sends the guy down the elevator… all of his ideas are little Christmas moments.”
Game Informer also asked the team of the famous Batman parody of “Jingle Bells” would make an appearance in the game.
“No comment… One thing I can say to partly answer that is there’s no Robin at this part of the continuity. There’s no concept of Robin. Batman works alone. Who knows, perhaps the first egg may be laid…”
This is an interesting tease as the initial reports of the rumored “multiplayer mode” for “Origins” included both Batman and Robin. Could we see Dick Grayson putting on the domino mask for the first time in the game? Check back here for official confirmation on the matter.
Developed by Warner Bros. Games Montreal, Batman: Arkham Origins will see eight of the best assassins in the world come to Gotham City for one night, Christmas Eve, to try and kill Batman. With even some of the Gotham’s finest turning against him, the prequel story will force the Dark Knight to forge relationships with characters for the first time and find out why so many want him dead.
