Guardians of the Galaxy Writers Say the Film is ‘In Safe Hands’

If you know Guardians of the Galaxy, then you know Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning. These two effectively revived the title in 2008 with an all-new team that will mostly carry over into the 2014 film from Marvel Studios. Abnett and Lanning’s work on the title is quite legendary for being such a defining run with the characters and the team, and their influence over the upcoming film is highly evident even in the concept art.

James Gunn, the director of Guardians of the Galaxy, is in London preparing the shoot for the movie and tweeted yesterday that he had met with Abnett and Lanning about the film. After their day in the production offices, Lanning tweeted this:

“Great day with @JamesGunn, thanks matey. Guardians are in safe hands! Awesome, this film will rock!”

Not that we were worried about the film’s quality, but having Lanning and Abnett give their stamp of approval is huge in our book! Are you looking forward to Guardians of the Galaxy?

So far the only cast member officially announced for the film is “Parks and Recreation” actor Chris Pratt, who has been cast as the film’s lead, Peter Quill aka Star-Lord. Guardians of the Galaxy‘s roster is also said to include Drax the Destroyer, Groot, Rocket Racoon and Gamora. Check back for casting and other details on the film as they emerge.
