Maya Boyd, set to play Storm in Marvel’s X-Men reboot, has just given fans a small glimpse into how she’s preparing for the role. A social media update from the 23-year-old is grabbing the attention of longtime X-Men fans.
Boyd posted an image on her Instagram story showing her holding a thick stack of Storm comic books. The Broadway actress captioned the photo with a simple message: “bought every one.” The image includes recent issues from Marvel’s ongoing Storm solo series, along with older releases tied to the character’s arc. It also includes Storm (2024) #1, written by Murewa Ayodele, with art by Lucas Werneck.
While Boyd did not reveal her plans for approaching the mutant role, the post suggests she is exploring Storm’s long-running history in the comics before her MCU debut. Reading the source material could help her better portray Ororo’s commanding screen presence.
Halle Berry and Alexandra Shipp previously brought the weather-wielding mutant to life in the X-Men movies.
