Marvel has tapped an MCU veteran to join its upcoming X-Men reboot in a major creative role. The addition marks another step forward for the highly anticipated project as production is expected to ramp up soon.
Sanja Milkovic Hays will reportedly serve as the costume designer for the MCU’s untitled X-Men movie. The creative talent has previously worked on several other MCU projects. These include Thunderbolts*, Captain Marvel, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Hays has helped bring many of the franchise’s iconic superhero costumes to life. Needless to say, her involvement in the X-Men movie guarantees another set of incredible superhero looks for the upcoming project.
Sadie Sink’s Jean Grey connection adds another Marvel link
Sadie Sink’s Jean Grey looks in Spider-Man: Brand New Day were created by Sanja Milkovic Hays. The renowned costume designer will now sketch the suits for the other X-Men members in the new MCU reboot. Thus, Hays’ involvement marks another connection between Spider-Man 4 and the X-Men reboot, alongside Sink’s casting as Jean Grey.
In a recent interview with CBR, Hays discussed her creative process behind Sink’s Jean Grey look in Brand New Day. “It’s the colors. The green and yellow are connected to the character,” she said.
Hays added, “But obviously, the decision was made that she doesn’t wear a superhero costume, because that wouldn’t work for the story, right? The story is about a girl and her sister. We didn’t know who she was until very, very late in the movie. So she had to look like a cool girl. A very cool girl.”
Meanwhile, Marvel has also announced who will be joining Sink in the new X-Men movie. Kit Connor will be playing Cyclops, along with Christopher Abbott as Professor Charles Xavier, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, and Maya Boyd as Storm. Additionally, Adam Driver will portray Nathaniel Milbury aka Mister Sinister.
The untitled X-Men movie is scheduled to be released on May 5, 2028.
