What’s next for Sadie Sink’s Jean Grey?
Sadie Sink was introduced as Jean Grey in the MCU’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day, where the mutant becomes a major threat to Peter Parker. Director Destin Daniel Cretton said he pushed for Grey to be part of the story, rather than using a traditional Spider-Man villain.
Her future as the mutant is already tied to Marvel’s upcoming X-Men movie. Marvel officially revealed the new cast at D23, confirming Sink alongside several actors playing major characters. The film is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on May 5, 2028.
Jake Schreier is directing the movie, which will introduce Marvel Studios’ new X-Men team. Kit Connor will play Cyclops, while Samara Weaving takes on Emma Frost. Inde Navarrette will portray Rogue, Maya Boyd will play Storm, and Christopher Abbott will appear as Professor X.
Adam Driver is also joining the cast as Nathaniel Essex, better known as Mister Sinister. That makes the upcoming movie especially important for Sink’s character, as Jean will be part of Marvel’s first official X-Men lineup within the MCU.
In an Entertainment Weekly interview, she said, “I’ve been having conversations with Jake, and we’re talking about the script and the characters and who’s going to play what. I’ve been involved in some of the casting, which is really exciting.” The actress also shared that the movie will continue building her character beyond her first MCU appearance.
Sadie Sink has also given an early indication of the production timeline. She revealed that X-Men will film next year before she moves on to FX and A24’s The Marriage Plot.
