A new Doctor Doom suit was unveiled as part of Marvel Studios’ official display at the D23 Expo, offering a different look for Avengers: Doomsday ahead of its theatrical release. This outfit was different from the battle-ready armor showcased at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC).
Erik Voss took to his X handle to share the first official look at Doctor Doom’s alternate suit in Avengers: Doomsday. Unlike his previous fit at San Diego Comic-Con, this outfit has a more neutral appearance. Although it dons a similar mask, the outfit showcases a medieval-inspired design.
The metallic mask in this costume is covered with the iconic Doctor Doom hooded cape. A difference from the SDCC first look is that the D23 display shows Doom’s cape held by a single metal clasp on the left instead of two.
Overall, this suit appears more ‘plain and cleaner’ than ‘battle-ready.’ However, elements like the mask, hooded cape, and the iconic dark green colors maintain the character’s signature elements. Additionally, this outfit seems more aligned with the Latverian style from the comics.
A fan commented, “Seeing Doctor Doom’s second armor variant at D23 is incredible… The SDCC reveal looked battle-heavy, but this D23 suit has a much cleaner, regal Latverian monarch vibe.”
Doctor Doom’s Avengers: Doomsday role remains shrouded in mystery
A fan visiting the D23 Expo shared a new look at Doctor Doom’s outfit, which has not yet appeared in any official Marvel Studios promotional footage. This only created more mystery about his role in the upcoming movie.
According to rumors, Doctor Doom will first serve as a savior to the multiverse incursions, only to betray the heroes from the Avengers, X-Men, and Fantastic Four later.
However, most of the information about the villain remains under wraps at Marvel. The trailer suggests that he is one of the strongest villains in the MCU that the three heroes from the multiverse must face.
Avengers: Doomsday will officially be out in theaters on December 18, 2026. Doctor Doom’s saga will continue in Secret Wars, slated for release on December 17, 2027.
