Actor Uli Latukefu has officially been cast as the iconic villain Ganondorf in The Legend of Zelda. According to a report by Deadline, Latukefu has signed a multi-picture deal, confirming that Nintendo and Sony have long-term plans for the character beyond a single appearance.

The report states that Latukefu’s multi-picture contract goes beyond the first The Legend of Zelda movie. While neither Nintendo nor Sony has confirmed a sequel, the deal indicates that he is expected to return as Ganondorf in at least one future project. The most immediate expectation is a direct sequel, The Legend of Zelda 2, which would expand the franchise after the debut film.
Another intriguing possibility for the character would be a broad crossover. Following the massive popularity of Super Mario Bros., many fans have wondered if Nintendo could eventually bring its biggest characters together in a film inspired by the Super Smash Bros.
