Spider-Man 4 Trailer Hides Several MCU X-Men References

Some possible X-Men Easter eggs have been spotted in the Spider-Man 4 trailer.

Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures’ Spider-Man 4, also known as Spider-Man: Brand New Day, will be released in United States theaters this summer. Directed by Wonder Man and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ Destin Daniel Cretton, the movie will once again see Tom Holland reprise his role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man.

“Four years have passed since the events of No Way Home, and Peter is now an adult living entirely alone, having voluntarily erased himself from the lives and memories of those he loves,” the synopsis reads. “Crime-fighting in a New York that no longer knows his name, he’s devoted himself entirely to protecting his city — a full-time Spider-Man — but as the demands on him intensify, the pressure sparks a surprising physical evolution that threatens his existence, even as a strange new pattern of crimes gives rise to one of the most powerful threats he has ever faced.”

What X-Men references do we see in the Spider-Man 4 trailer?

As noted on Twitter, there’s one part in the trailer where Peter is labeled as an “enhanced human” after undergoing some tests that assess his superpowers. This is language and a classification system that’s similar to the mutant power level classification; that’s not to say that Peter, himself, is a mutant in the MCU, but there are notably some similarities there. Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner says Peter’s DNA seems to be “mutating.”

What’s perhaps even more interesting is that someone named Agent Ramirez appears to be conducting the tests on Spider-Man. While there’s no confirmation this is the case, this could be Delores Ramirez, a Marvel Comics character who worked on a task force, X-Desk, that was designed to keep mutants under control. This could potentially be who Liza Colón-Zayas is playing, though this is purely speculation.

And, speaking of speculation, there are a whole bunch more unconfirmed theories related to X-Men and the Spider-Man 4 trailer, with some believing that Sadie Sink is most definitely playing Jean Grey in the film. Whether or not that turns out to be true remains to be seen.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 4 arrives on July 31, 2026.
