Elizabeth Olsen’s potential role in Avengers: Doomsday has received an exciting update.
Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday is currently in post-production. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, also known as the Russo Brothers, the movie will be released in United States theaters this December. The sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, follows in December 2027.
So far, Marvel has released four Avengers: Doomsday teaser trailers. The first teaser officially revealed that Chris Evans is officially returning to the MCU as Steve Rogers, while the second focused on Chris Hemsworth’s Thor and the third on a handful of X-Men characters. The fourth teaser then focused on Letitia Wright’s Black Panther/Shuri, Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s Ben Grimm/The Thing, and more.
What is the update on Elizabeth Olsen’s Avengers: Doomsday role?
While Marvel has yet to officially confirm whether or not Elizabeth Olsen will be reprising her role as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch in Avengers: Doomsday, there have been plenty of online rumors suggesting that she will.
According to scooper The Beyond Reporter, Olsen will appear in the movie, and her character will be put under a spell by Doctor Doom, who is being played by Robert Downey Jr.
There’s some irony here, as Wanda put Tony Stark/Iron Man, also played by Robert Downey Jr., under a spell in Avengers: Age of Ultron, which was released in 2015. That spell, however, didn’t last long and merely gave her and Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s Pietro Maximoff/Quicksilver time to escape, as Wanda also bewitched the rest of the Avengers. This resulted in Bruce Banner/Hulk going on a brief rampage through the city of Johannesburg.
What kind of spell Wanda may be put under in Avengers: Doomsday remains to be seen. Plot details for the movie remain under wraps, meaning this is just a rumor at this time, and it should be treated as such.
Avengers: Doomsday arrives on December 18, 2026, while Avengers: Secret Wars is dated for December 17, 2027.
