A popular MCU character will reportedly die in Avengers: Doomsday.
Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday is currently in post-production. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, also known as the Russo Brothers, the movie arrives this December. The sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, then follows in 2027.
Who will reportedly die in Avengers: Doomsday?
While official plot details for Avengers: Doomsday remain under wraps at Marvel, a new rumor suggests that Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang/Ant-Man will die in the movie.
Scooper @Majestic_ucm first posted on Twitter that the “death of an Avenger will form the group of Champions (Young Avengers).” That post included a video of footage from Rudd and Kathryn Newton’s Cassie Lang in 2023’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
@Majestic_ucm then later posted, “Scott, from the TVA, saying goodbye to Cassie. The plan went wrong. Survive and restore the world. I love you, flea. If what I read is true, this scene is similar to Armageddon, but with more drama. The plan on the TVA goes wrong. Video played on the raft. Moments before the incursion. I repeat, this is what I read.”
This is only a rumor at this time, meaning it shouldn’t be treated as confirmation that Rudd’s character will die in Avengers: Doomsday. Marvel has not commented on the matter.
Lang’s casting in Avengers: Doomsday has also not been confirmed at this time, though there have been rumors she’ll appear alongside some other characters — such as Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel — to officially form a Young Avengers team.
Avengers: Doomsday will be released in United States theaters on December 18, 2026, as part of Phase 6 of the MCU. Avengers: Secret Wars is dated for December 17, 2027. Before both of those movies comes Spider-Man 4, also known as Spider-Man: Brand New Day, on July 31, 2026.
