A new report has shed some light on what the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe holds for the Skrulls following the disappointing reception to Secret Invasion.
What does the future hold for Skrulls in the MCU?
In a new Q&A session with The Cosmic Circus’ Alex Perez, a fan asked the insider if the Skrulls are still in Marvel Studios‘ plans. Perez didn’t go into too much depth, but simply said that yes, they were.
The Skrulls first appeared in the MCU in 2019’s Captain Marvel. The iconic Marvel Comics group played a large role in the film, and would later go on to be the main focus of the Disney+ series Secret Invasion. That series, which also starred Samuel L. Jackson and Emilia Clarke, received widely mixed reviews from both critics and audiences alike.
Currently, the MCU seems to be heading in a multiversal direction, leaving the Skrulls without any chance for popping up for the time being. Up next for Marvel Studios is Avengers: Doomsday, which is rumored to heavily impact the MCU going forward. It’s unknown if any Skrull characters will appear in that, however.
Avengers: Doomsday arrives in United States theaters on December 18, 2026, as part of Phase 6 of the MCU. Avengers: Secret Wars then follows on December 17, 2027, while Spider-Man: Brand New Day arrives before both of those movies on July 31, 2026.
