Latest Sadie Sink MCU Rumor Adds a Key Update to Mystery Character

Three weeks into filming and Spider-Man fans are still no closer to figuring out who Sadie Sink is playing in Brand New Day.

What’s the latest Sadie Sink MCU update?

However, trusted scooper Alex Perez of The Cosmic Circus has revealed a key detail about Sink’s character that sheds new light on who she could possibly be playing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel. According to Perez, “All my sources agree on is that she is an ally to Peter, not Spider-Man.” This suggests that Sink will be playing a character who has closer ties to Peter Parker than Spider-Man, ruling out popular fan guesses like Black Cat, Firestar, and Jean Grey, while leaving the door open for her to be playing someone like a Mary Jane Watson variant or Gwen Stacy.

Sink joined the cast of Spider-Man: Brand New Day in March 2025 as one of several new additions to the Tom Holland-led franchise. Liza Colón-Zayas has also been cast in an undisclosed role, while Brand New Day will mark Mark Ruffalo and Jon Bernthal’s first appearances in a Spider-Man movie. The two actors will be reprising their respective MCU roles as Bruce Banner/Hulk and Frank Castle/Punisher.

Other returning MCU alums in Spider-Man: Brand New Day include Zendaya as Michelle “MJ” Jones-Watson, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, and Michael Mando as Mac Gargan/Scorpion, marking the latter’s return to the franchise for the first time since 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. Holland also returns as the title character, Peter Parker/Spider-Man, making him the first actor to receive four solo Spider-Man movies.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day began filming on August 1 in Glasgow, Scotland, with Destin Daniel Cretton in the director’s chair. The screenplay for the MCU sequel was written by Chris McKenna & Erik Sommers, who have so far scripted all of Holland’s solo Spidey adventures. The movie is scheduled to hit theaters on July 31, 2026, as part of Phase 6 of the MCU.
