A new X-Men MCU movie rumor floating around suggests that the film could begin production much sooner than fans normally believed.
What is the new X-Men MCU movie rumor?
According to noted insider Daniel Richtman, the planned X-Men reboot film will begin casting once Avengers: Doomsday wraps filming. With the script for the film also being written now, that points to the fact that Marvel Studios could be ready to begin ramping up for production on the film to start sooner than we thought.

The X-Men reboot film will be directed by Jake Schreier (Thunderbolts*), who didn’t say much about the film, but did note that the iconic Marvel group is filled with “inherently interesting and complex material.”
As of now, little to nothing is known about the X-Men movie that will take place in the MCU. The cast from the original series of films — including Patrick Stewart’s Professor X — are set to appear in 2026’s Avengers: Doomsday, although it’s unclear what their role will be in that as well.
We do know the film will be unlike any X-Men movie we’ve seen before, though, as Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige said that it won’t be something they’ve seen before.
“A lot has been done. But again, because it’s X-Men, because it’s almost a comic legacy unto itself, there’s so much more to tap into it,” he commented. “And there [are] so many sagas within sagas for X-Men that that’s part of what we’re talking about now — which saga to grow and build to while doing the most important thing, which is introducing all of these characters and giving them their due in our first film.”
In the meantime, the MCU has several films lined up in the future, including Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Avengers: Doomsday, and Avengers: Secret Wars, all of which release throughout 2026 and 2027.
