A new rumor suggests that the first Avengers: Doomsday teaser trailer could drop at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) this year.
Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday is currently in production. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, also known as the Russo Brothers, the movie is currently scheduled to be released in December 2026, while a sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, is dated for 2027.
What is the new SDCC Avengers: Doomsday rumor?
According to scooper Alex Perez of The Cosmic Circus, the first teaser trailer for the MCU ensemble movie could be revealed at SDCC, which begins on July 24, 2025.
“I have heard Marvel will return for SDCC, but I don’t expect them to make it a grand spectacle like they normally do with Phase reveals,” Perez said when asked about Marvel’s SDCC 2025 plans. “I think that the main focus for Marvel at SDCC will be to promote their new film, Fantastic Four: The First Steps, which coincidentally drops around the same time as SDCC this year. I’d also expect looks at Wonder Man, Daredevil: Born Again season 2 , and VisionQuest, and an additional first look, possibly maybe even a teaser of Avengers: Doomsday.”
This is merely a rumor at this time and not a confirmation that an Avengers: Doomsday teaser trailer will come during SDCC; furthermore, if Marvel does release some Avengers: Doomsday footage, there’s no guarantee it will be released online, as it could only be shown to those in attendance at the event.
Having said that, it’s entirely possible that Avengers: Doomsday footage could be revealed, as the movie has been filming since April 2025. This wouldn’t be unprecedented, as, for example, Guardians of the Galaxy began filming in July 2013, and Kevin Feige showed off some footage from the movie at SDCC that August.
Avengers: Doomsday will be released in United States theaters on December 18, 2026, as part of Phase 6 of the MCU. Avengers: Secret Wars then follows on December 17, 2027.
