A major rumor for from a noted insider points to Marvel Studios considering Bryan Cranston for a major role in the MCU.
Who is Brayn Cranston reportedly being eyed to play in the MCU?
According to a new post from noted insider MyTimeToShine on X, Marvel is eyeing the Breaking Bad star to play the role of none other than Professor X, or Charles Xavier. The insider didn’t open up about much else, so it’s unclear exactly what movie or project this would happen.
As it stands, there are no official X-Men casting for the MCU’s new generation of the iconic mutant group. The cast from the original series of films — including Patrick Stewart’s Professor X — are set to appear in 2026’s Avengers: Doomsday, although it’s unclear what their role will be in that as well.
Cranston is best known for his iconic role as Walter White in Breaking Bad, as well as his starring role in the Fox sitcom Malcolm in the Middle. Cranston has also spoken about playing a famous X-Men character in the past, but not Professor X.

“I want to play an antagonist a fraction smarter than the protagonist, never dumbed down to give the hero an easy win,” Cranston said way back in 2018 in an interview with ScreenGeek. “That’s frustrating and boring to watch. Actually, that was the character, I’ll admit. Mister Sinister was the character I was thinking about.”
