Thunderbolts* is steadily nearing its release date, and fans couldn’t be more excited for the unconventional team-up between MCU misfits. A recently released trailer provided the Marvel fandom with a first glance at the titular gang, featuring Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes and Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova, among others. However, an unfamiliar face portrayed by actor Lewis Pullman was also revealed.
While Pullman’s character has been referred to as Bob so far, it is now confirmed that he will be stepping into the shoes of The Sentry. In a recent discussion, the Top Gun: Maverick star shared his two cents on donning the iconic gold and blue super suit for the part.
Lewis Pullman’s comment on eventually getting The Sentry’s suit in Thunderbolts*
Lewis Pullman confirmed that he will be getting rid of the scrubs he was seen wearing in the Thunderbolts* trailer.
While talking to ComicBook.com, the 31-year-old actor was asked if his role would eventually see him change outfits. Lewis Pullman avoided revealing the part about the Sentry suit but stated that Bob would be ditching the scrubs sometime in Thunderbolts*. “I love the trailer and yesterday was the first time I saw it really,” he said. “I will say he does make his way out of those scrubs. He gets to change, and I hope he . . . I don’t know, it wasn’t camera, but I hope he washes them. But he does get to relieve himself of those scrubs, which, you know, is nice.”
Prior to Lewis Pullman’s casting in Thunderbolts*, the Sentry (or Bob) was initially intended to be portrayed by Steven Yeun, however, his eventual departure from the project opened a slot for Pullman.
In the comics, the Sentry is designed to be a complex character who acquires his powers from a modified version of the Super Soldier Serum. Instead of turning out like the Winter Soldier, he gains the power of a million exploding suns. Additionally, the Sentry encapsulates two contrasting personalities in one body. Aside from his superhero persona, the powerful being also harbors an evil entity inside him known as The Void.
Directed by Jake Schreier, Thunderbolts* is scheduled to hit the big screens on May 2, 2025.
