Colman Domingo on Kang the Conqueror MCU Rumors: ‘I Would Welcome a Conversation’

Colman Domingo isn’t opposed to the idea of playing Kang the Conqueror in the MCU.

Speaking with Vanity Fair, Domingo was asked if there was any truth to the rumors suggesting he could step into the role of Kang the Conqueror now that Marvel has officially parted ways with Jonathan Majors.

“You know, listen. My team has had conversations with Marvel about some aspect of the MCU for years,” Domingo answered. “Do I know this to be true or not? I actually don’t know. I feel like my team doesn’t bring me something unless it’s real. So I don’t know. I could be in conversation, but I’m not sure. I would welcome a conversation around it. Whatever they’re working out with Jonathan [Majors] and his legacy in the MCU, I feel like I just have to be in my own lane, whatever that is. There’s hearsay, there’s conversations, but I’m not even sure because I feel like nothing comes to me until something’s real. But I’d be down with it.”

Will Kang the Conqueror return in the MCU?

Majors, who played Kang in Disney+’s Loki series and 2023’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, was fired from Marvel Studios after he was found guilty of reckless assault in the third degree and harassment in December 2023.

It’s not yet immediately clear how Marvel plans to move forward in regards to the character, as there’s the possibility that Kang could either be recast or written out of the MCU entirely.

After Majors was fired, The Hollywood Reporter wrote that Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, which is currently still dated for 2026, is now being referred to as Avengers 5 for the time being, which suggests that Kang’s role may be downplayed.

Variety also reported in November 2023 that Marvel was already considering moving away from the Kang storyline after Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania underperformed at the box office.
