Marvel EP Promises Fans an Answer to a Years-Old Avengers Question

Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Studios’ Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation, recently revealed that Marvel Cinematic Universe fans will eventually learn who bought Avengers Tower in Spider-Man: Homecoming.

While speaking with the Phase Zero channel (via ComicBook.com) to promote Echo, Winderbaum — who is an executive producer on the Marvel Spotlight series — confirmed that an answer to the six-year-old question is coming soon. “Yes. Honestly, yes, you will,” he stated.

First introduced as Stark Tower in Marvel’s The Avengers (2012), the New York City landmark served as the home base for the Avengers in Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015). In Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), it was revealed that Tony Stark was moving the Avengers to a new headquarters in Upstate New York and had sold Avengers Tower to an undisclosed buyer.

At the time of writing, the MCU has not revealed who bought Avengers Tower, with Marvel Studios only revealing that the property was undergoing construction in Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019).

Did Wilson Fisk buy Avengers Tower?

Phase Zero also spoke with Echo star Vincent D’Onofrio, who portrays Wilson Fisk/Kingpin in the MCU. When asked if Fisk could have been the one to buy Avengers Tower, D’Onofrio replied, “I can’t answer any of those questions. Nobody’s ever asked me that, though. I’m surprised you’re, actually, now that you’ve asked, you’re the first person that’s ever asked me that.”

Besides Wilson Fisk, fans have long speculated that Norman Osborn or the Fantastic Four will be revealed as the new owner of Avengers Tower. In these theories, Osborn would turn it into the headquarters for his company Oscorp, while the Fantastic Four would rename it the Baxter Building, which serves as HQ for the Fantastic Four in the comics.

MCU fans can follow the evolution of Avengers Tower by streaming Marvel’s The Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Spider-Man: Far From Home on Disney+.
