A Marvel scooper just teased a fan-favorite villain’s surprise return in Avengers: Doomsday. The insider’s post followed a revealing interview where the actor opened up about his original multi-film Marvel deal.
Doc Ock to cameo in Avengers: Doomsday?
Marvel scooper MyTimeToShineHello sparked fresh speculation about Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock on X. The insider responded to Molina’s recent Variety interview by asking, “Is he in Avengers Doomsday?” The post gained significant traction and fueled online discussion about the character’s MCU future.
Separate online speculation suggests a sequence on Tobey Maguire’s Earth could feature Deadpool and Wolverine. Fans noted that such a setting would create a natural opportunity for Doc Ock’s involvement. Avengers: Doomsday currently remains in production under directors Joe and Anthony Russo.
Molina recently reflected on his original Marvel deal in the Variety interview. He revealed that Marvel initially signed him to a three-movie option for Doc Ock. After his character died in 2004’s Spider-Man 2, he believed the contract had ended. However, former Marvel head Avi Arad told him at the time, “Well, no one really dies in this universe.”
Marvel eventually called Molina back for 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home. He told producer Amy Pascal about his concerns over aging into the role again. “I’ve got crow’s feet. I’ve got a double chin. I’m not a youngster anymore,” he recalled saying. Director Jon Watts then reassured him that technology could handle those changes.
Molina expressed willingness to reprise the role if asked. “If they came knocking on my door and said we’d love you to do it again, I would do it again, no doubt,” he said. He also tempered expectations by adding, “I doubt if it’ll happen, though.”
Molina still has at least one film remaining on his original three-movie Marvel option. His openness to returning keeps the possibility alive for future MCU projects.
