The Predator‘s back. Or more accurately, a Predator was here. As in hundreds of years ago. And while Hulu’s Prey may be one of the Predator’s earliest hunts on Earth, this may not be the first and it’s definitely not the last. The key difference is that at least the heroes in the modern Predator movies had guns and other weapons to fall back on. 300 years ago, the weapons at hand were a lot less advanced.
In the first teaser for Prey, a Comanche woman flees from the forest with a Predator in hot pursuit. She finds some protection from a member of her tribe. However, it’s hardly a fair fight. We don’t even see the Predator, but he leaves his mark nevertheless.
The Comanche woman in the trailer may be Naru (Amber Midthunder), the lead character in Prey. She’s lived “in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains” for most of her life. Regardless, it falls upon Naru to defend her tribe when the Predator takes out their warriors one at a time. And the odds aren’t exactly in Naru’s favor.
Prey was directed by Dan Trachtenberg, and it will premiere on Hulu on August 5.
