Morbius Director Drops Some Major Multiverse SPOILERS

WARNING: This article features Multiverse SPOILERS for Morbius AND potential future Sony Spider-villain films!

Morbius hasn’t even hit theaters yet in the U.S., but director Daniel Espinoza is already discussing what could come next. Since the first trailer, fans have known that Michael Keaton appears in the film as villain Adrian Toomes, but Loki muddied the waters after that. Could he just be a variant? Dropping some Multiverse spoilers in an interview witrh Cinemablend, Espinosa clarified he is the very same guy we saw in Spider-Man: Homecoming.

“At the end of Venom: Let There Be Carnage, and Spider-Man: No Way Home, and in No Way Home itself, it is clearly established that it is possible for characters to transfer from one Multiverse to another,” he says. “The events of No Way Home had the effect of transferring Venom and Vulture (and maybe others) back and forth between the MCU and the Venom Universe.”

And just to be clear, in case the last trailer din’t make it blatant enough, he adds, “Morbius lives in the same universe as Venom.” But with Toomes crossing over, a potential Sinister Six film could feature bad guys from both franchises.

It gets interesting when Espinoza addresses whether or not that universe has a Spider-Man. The answer is: yes, it does. But as to which actor plays him? “It is my understanding that audiences will discover the answer soon.”

Maybe in Across the Spider-Verse, Part 1? We’ll have to wait and see. Which Spidey do you think should live in Sony’s villain-verse? Let us know in comments.
