Free Guy Will Arrive on Disney+ In February

Earlier this year, Free Guy was one of the few bright spots at the box office, in part because it didn’t simultaneously debut on a streaming platform. However, it will have a streaming home in the new year. Disney and 20th Century Studios have officially announced that Free Guy will come to Disney+ on February 23, 2022. It will be available to all Disney+ subscribers on that date.

The film stars Ryan Reynolds as Guy, a NPC character in a video game who is blissfully unaware of his true nature. Regardless, Guy is forced to face the reality of who and what he is when the very existence of his friends is threatened by the game’s creator. Reynolds went the extra mile to promote this project, including a memorable trailer reaction video in which he reprised his role as Deadpool.

Killing Eve‘s Jodie Comer co-stars as Millie Rusk/Molotov Girl, a woman who has her own agenda in the game. She also provides the key to Guy’s awakening. Joe Keery also stars as Walter “Keys” McKey, with Lil Rel Howery as Buddy, Utkarsh Ambudkar as Mouser, Britne Oldford as Barista, Matty Cardarople as Keith, Channing Tatum as Revenjamin Buttons, and Mike Devine as Officer Johnny. Additionally, Taika Waititi is featured as Soonami CEO Antwan Hovachelik.

Shawn Levy directed the film from a script by Matt Lieberman and Zak Penn.
