2D Zombies Run Amok in WB’s Night of the Animated Dead Trailer

Night of the Living Dead has been remade several times over the last 53 years, but never quite like this. Thanks to IGN, we now have our first look at Warner Bros. Home Animation’s animated retelling of George A. Romero’s beloved 1968 zombie flick. Check out the new trailer below.

The new film features all the characters fans know and love. But unlike the original, this latest re-imagining will be presented in color instead of black and white. Regardless, the filmmakers are sticking to Romero’s classic premise, where a band of strangers find themselves trapped in a farmhouse surrounded by hungry zombies and must combine their wits in order to escape.

Although we can probably expect some tweaks, it looks like the movie will faithfully recreate a number of key moments, including the opening scene at the cemetery (“They’re coming to get you, Barbara!”)

Additionally, the movie features Dule Hill as Ben, Katharine Isabelle as Barbara, and Katee Sackhoff as Judy. Other performers include Jimmi Simpson as Johnny, James Roday Rodriguez as Tom, and Will Sasso as Sheriff McClelland. Josh Duhamel and Nancy Travis also round out the cast as Harry and Helen Cooper, respectively.

Jason Axinn directed the film from a new script by John A. Russo.

Night of the Animated Dead hits digital on September 21. A Blu-ray/DVD combo pack will later hit stores on October 5.
