Rob Zombie Shares an Early Look at The Munsters Reboot

More than a month after confirming his involvement with Universal’s reboot of The Munsters, Rob Zombie is giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at the movie’s design process. As pre-production continues, Zombie and his team are presently hard at work on establishing the look and feel of the film, as evidenced by new concept art for two of the main characters.

Via his official Instagram page, Zombie shared two designs for the Munster clan’s patriarch and matriarch, Herman and Lily. The images show both characters dressed in their pajamas, with Lily wearing a gothic nightgown and Herman sporting a striped nightshirt similar to his 1960s TV counterpart. The designs also zero in on key details, like the spiderweb print on Lily’s gown and the skull buttons on Herman’s shirt. Check them out for yourself below.

This isn’t the first bit of Munsters concept art that Zombie has posted this week. Just two days ago, he revealed an early glimpse at the blueprints for the family’s eerie abode on Mockingbird Lane. The house is currently under construction. And according to Zombie, it’s “the most perfect Munsters house since 1964.”

Zombie previously revealed that The Munsters will shoot in Budapest, Hungary. Additionally, rumor has it that Zombie wants his 3 From Hell and The Lords of Salem star Jeff Daniel Phillips to star in the film as Herman Munster opposite Zombie’s wife, Sheri Moon Zombie, as Lily. However, this hasn’t been verified yet. Universal’s 1440 Productions is developing the film, which will hit theaters and simultaneously stream on Peacock.

Universal still hasn’t announced a release date for The Munsters.
