Martin Freeman Calls Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’s Script ‘Very Good’

Marvel has been characteristically tight-lipped about its plans for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Regardless, a few vague updates about the film’s progress have managed to trickle out over the last few months. Many of these updates have come from Martin Freeman, who will reprise his role as Everett Ross in the new film. Freeman recently got a chance to read the full script for the highly-anticipated sequel, and he offered his verdict during an appearance on The One Show (via Metro).

Naturally, Freeman couldn’t divulge any story details because Marvel has “sworn us all to secrecy.” But he could share his early impressions of Ryan Coogler’s screenplay, and it sounds like he’s ready to get to work.

“I’ve read the script. It’s very good and we will be doing it at some point I guess in the next several months,” said Freeman. “I’ll be going to the States and doing that. But I’m very excited about it, yeah.”

Coogler previously gave Freeman a rundown of Wakanda Forever’s story while meeting with the actor over Zoom a few months ago. Freeman subsequently shared his reaction to the director’s plans while appearing on The Late Late Show with James Corden earlier this month. Freeman confessed that he found some of Coogler’s ideas to be “very odd,” but he seemed to trust the director’s judgment.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever hits theaters on July 8, 2022.
