Margot Robbie Says She Keeps Pitching to Bring Poison Ivy in the DCEU

It appears that fans will have to wait a while to see Poison Ivy in the DCEU. Given the character’s popularity, many fans thought that Warner Bros. would explore the relationship between the eco-terrorist and Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn. However, it looks like producers don’t have any plans for the red-headed villain for the near future. Robbie recently opened up about pitching the idea to bring the character on the big screen once again. So far, her efforts were to no avail, but the actress is optimistic about the future.

“Trust me, I chew their ear off about it all the time,” said Robbie while talking with Den of Geek. “They must be sick of hearing it, but I’m like, ‘Poison Ivy, Poison Ivy. Come on, let’s do it.’ I’m very keen to see a Harley-Poison Ivy relationship on screen. It’d be so fun. So I’ll keep pestering them. Don’t worry.”

While Ivy had a more recent live-action adaptation in Fox’s Gotham, her last (and so far, only) appearance on the big screen dates back to 1997. At that time, Uma Thurman portrayed a campy version of the character in Joel Schumacher’s Batman & Robin. A hypothetical sequel to 2020’s Birds of Prey might explore the relationship between Harley and Poison Ivy, as director Cathy Yan teased in the past. The villain had far more appearances in DC animated projects. More recently, she went from being one of Harley’s gang members to her love interest in DC Universe’s Harley Quinn.
