Marvel Releases New Black Widow Character Posters

In an ideal world, Marvel Studios’ Black Widow would have been out a year ago. Now, the film is finally heading to theaters and Disney+ in July. To celebrate the upcoming release, Disney and Marvel Studios have released a few new Black Widow character posters. And the posters include all three Black Widows in the film.

Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) went through the Red Room program and emerged as a Black Widow. However, Natasha’s “sister,” Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), also went through the program. Regardless, Natasha wasn’t the first Black Widow. Rachel Weisz’s Melina Vostokoff was Black Widow before either Natasha or Yelena. Additionally, chances are good that some other Black Widows may be introduced in the film.

David Harbour’s Alexei Shostakov / Red Guardian also gets a poster. Unlike his comic book counterpart, he’s not Natasha’s former husband. Instead, Alexei is a mentor to both Natasha and Yelena. As for O-T Fagbenle’s Rick Mason, he’s the guy who is romantically interested in Natasha. He’s also a former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent who worked with Natasha before.

The final character poster is Taskmaster, the new leader of the Red Room. But so far, Marvel hasn’t revealed who is underneath the Taskmaster’s mask.

Black Widow will hit theaters and Disney+ Premier Access on Friday, July 9.
